People should take into account that we are all equal in
this community, Whether poor or rich, educated and even if we have a political
muscle to plunder citizens taxes and grand’s. We are all equal under the law of
Malawi which clealy states that: corruption is an offense and is punishable.
Our community is now dancing to the tune of poverty since it was born due to
corrupt individuals who desire every good thing in their pockets. This is
really painful as kanjuchi remains undeveloped as corruption has grown
taproots.
The survey shows that almost 4% of people in this community
are rich and the rest are poor and are finding it hard times to survive.
Someone may question me why? It is to the fact that it’s always the rich who
enjoy more good policies than the poor. Since money answers their questions
hence becoming richer and richer, yet the poor languish as if they are not
rights holders. Good example could be the farm input subsidy program me, [FISP]
which government offers fertilizer and seeds to small holder farmers at unbeatable
prices. A 50kg bag of fertilizer was
supposed to cost k500 instead of k17, 000 original prices. This is being
enjoyed by the big shots, those owning big farms. The bearers demands an extra
k2500 making it k3000 per bag. This indeed totals corruption because if it is
not then corruption itself does not exist. The poor are suffering to buy the
inputs and some of them their vouchers expire as they look at them in
disbelief.
This situation continues to suffocate kanjuchi. Having in
mind that relevant authorities are their including the councilor. We heard they
were involved in offloading and buying inputs at night. Why can’t they fight against
it? The community tried its best but what we got was the power of money ruling
not justice. Fertilizers could be seen being offloaded in dark hours. It’s
shameful in this case no way the community can develop .When there is
corruption and corrupt people these are the predators to development.
Enough is enough! Now we will stand on an anthill
to fight corruption. We must all of us join hands until this malpractice comes
out of the battle field, we must keep our eyes everywhere. Once cases of this
kind are noticed action must be taken until justice prevails. Kanjuchi and
Malawi is ours. The dictatorship government is over. That’s when we could see selected individuals
enjoying the world as if it belongs to them only. Right time to say zero tolerance to
corruption, by doing so we are going to see our community fully developedcompiled by Vincent Banda
